Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter, and Concrete Pavement Patches, Citywide Installation and Repair - 2026

Background

The City of Madison, Wisconsin, is seeking contractors for the Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter, and Concrete Pavement Patches project for citywide installation and repair in 2026. The work is mandated by the Common Council and aims to enhance public infrastructure by replacing defective sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and performing necessary concrete repairs. This project aligns with the city's mission to maintain safe and accessible public spaces.

Work Details

The contractor will perform various tasks including: - Replacing defective sidewalk and curb and gutter; - Conducting concrete pavement repairs; - Installing sidewalk ramps with detectable warning fields (to be supplied by the contractor); - Constructing Metro Transit bus pads; - Executing other associated work as directed by the Engineer. A list of approved locations for this work is provided in the Special Provisions, though additional locations may be added as needed. The contractor must ensure compliance with existing utility regulations during construction.

Period of Performance

The contract work is expected to commence upon award and must be completed by November 13, 2026. An interim completion date of September 18, 2026, is set for specific tasks excluding certain concrete repairs which are to begin after September 1, 2026.

Place of Performance

The work will take place at various locations throughout the City of Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be pre-qualified for specific types of construction relevant to this project. They are required to submit proof of responsibility forms and comply with Small Business Enterprise (SBE) goals set at 6%. Bidders must also provide a bid bond equal to at least 5% of their bid amount. Additionally, they must demonstrate good faith efforts in utilizing SBE subcontractors or suppliers as part of their proposal.
