Background The U.S. Forest Service is issuing this solicitation for roadway surface grading and blading services needed for the Mark Twain National Forest, which spans multiple counties including Barry, Stone, Christian, Taney, Ozark, Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ripley, Carter, Wayne, Butler, Iron, Madison, St. Francois, St. Genevieve, Bolenger, Washington, Phelps, Texas, Laclede, Pulaski, and Wright. The goal of this contract is to maintain and improve road conditions within the forest to ensure safe access for public users and forest management activities. Work Details The contractor will perform surface blading of the road traveled way and shoulders using a motor grader to re-establish a crown or slope on the road. This includes: - Conducting a minimum of five passes on all roads to ensure proper grading. - Cleaning and reshaping ditch lines to a minimum depth of 1 foot and ensuring outlet ditches are clear. - Removing obstructions such as fallen trees and loose rocks over three inches in diameter from the roadway after blading operations. - Maintaining existing roadbed width and shaping it to conform with typical sections on the ground. - Using scarification techniques as necessary to eliminate ruts or potholes. - Ensuring that all drainage features are maintained for proper water flow without obstruction by debris or accumulated material. Period of Performance The contract will be performed over a Base Year from May 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027 with four potential option years extending through April 30, 2031. Place of Performance Various portions of the Mark Twain National Forest across multiple counties in Missouri.
