Background The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District is issuing a Notice of Intent to Sole Source for Design and Construction Phase Services for Hazard Mitigation for the East River Bridges. This project is associated with USACE Project No. 111104 and NYCDOT/FEMA project numbers 1391-0002, 1391-0003, 1391-0004, and 1391-0005. The goal of this contract is to complete the design and construction phase services necessary for the ongoing hazard mitigation efforts related to the East River Bridges in New York City. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: - Take ownership of an existing design that is approximately 90% complete, update it to current codes, and continue the design to full completion (100%). This includes professional liability for the design. - Coordinate the design for approval. - Review shop drawings and submittals from the General Construction Contractor to ensure they conform with construction contract requirements. - Conduct site visits during construction for meeting attendance, observation of construction work in progress, evaluation of quality control mock-ups, and observation of factory acceptance testing. - Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) submitted by the General Construction Contractor. - Provide technical assistance services during the construction phase, which includes both informal and formal consultations via phone, teleconference, or video conferencing during technical meetings with team members and representatives from the General Construction Contractor.
