Pinto Mesa Cut and Pile Phase 2 BLM

Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), specifically the White River Field Office in Meeker, Colorado, is seeking to acquire fuels management services to treat vegetation and reduce the risk of wildland fires. This initiative is supported by Public Law 112-74, which allows the Secretary of the Interior to enter into contracts for fuels reduction activities on Federal and adjacent non-Federal lands. The project aligns with the goals of the National Fire Plan established under Public Law 106-291. Work Details The contractor will perform cut and pile operations on approximately 432 acres, specifically targeting pinyon and juniper trees. The work requires contractor-furnished crews and chainsaws. Access to work sites will be at the contractor's expense, and any damage to public or private roads must be restored by the contractor. Environmental conditions mandate that all contractor-generated litter be cleaned up and disposed of at an approved landfill. The contractor must utilize GPS equipment capable of accepting GPX files for navigation and must ensure that all equipment is free from noxious weed seeds before operating on government lands. A site visit can be arranged at the vendor's convenience by contacting Shane Pfeiffer. Period of Performance The contract work is scheduled to begin on July 16, 2026, and must be completed by November 30, 2026. No work can occur between December 15, 2025, and July 15, 2026, due to wildlife considerations. If drought conditions are severe as per the Palmer Drought Severity Index on July 1st, work will only be permitted from September 16, 2026, to March 14, 2027. Place of Performance The project site is located approximately 32 miles west of Meeker, Colorado, within legal descriptions T: 1N Range: 99W Sections: 26, 27, 34, and 35.
