NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to GYRO STABILIZED SYSTEMS LLC 400 Crown Point CIR Grass Valley, California 95945-9089 United States under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). It has been determined that GYRO STABILIZED SYSTEMS LLC is the sole provider of GSS Custom Camera and Lens Kit 516 S/N 0038 & 512X S/N 0052 and upgrade. NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Kennedy Space Center (KSC). The Government intends to acquire commercial items and services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 13. The NAICS Code for this procurement is 334310. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 1/27/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable. Background NASA/NSSC has a requirement for GSS Custom Camera and Lens Kit 516 S/N 0038 & 512X S/N 0052 and upgrade. NASA intends to issue a sole source contract to GYRO STABILIZED SYSTEMS LLC, located at 400 Crown Point CIR, Grass Valley, California. It has been determined that GYRO STABILIZED SYSTEMS LLC is the sole provider of the required camera systems. The contract supports NASA's Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) and Orion programs during the Landing and Recovery portion of the Artemis missions. Work Details The contractor shall perform the following duties: - Integrate NASA owned FLIR Boson cameras into the NASA owned GSS C512 and C516 camera systems; - Design, fabricate, integrate, balance, and test new hardware for complete integration; - Provide live FLIR Boson video output external from the gimbal to the system operator; - Enable adjustment for the FLIR Boson camera for precise bore-sighting with the currently integrated camera system; - Provide a protective cover (Snout) for both current and new cameras (FLIR Boson) to protect against wind, rain, dust, etc.; - Ensure protective glass does not impede optical performance; - Enable internal cameras to roll +/- 90 degrees when snout is not installed; - Enable camera system roll lockouts when snout is installed; - Allow adjustable roll lockout for current visual camera system installation in 'portrait' or 'landscape' modes; - Maintain overall lookup angle of the camera system as currently allowed; - Ensure FLIR Boson integrated system and hardware are removable by the operator; - Ensure visual camera system remains operational with original snout after removal of FLIR Boson integrated system. Period of Performance Delivery for initial hardware is expected by April 10, 2026, with final glass delivery to follow by April 30, 2026.
