Background The Commonwealth of Kentucky, through the Finance and Administration Cabinet, Department for Facilities and Support Services, is seeking an Architect/Engineer (A/E) to provide architectural and engineering services for the renovation and expansion of the Boone Rest Areas on both Northbound and Southbound sides. The project aims to enhance facilities for public use, aligning with the agency's mission to improve infrastructure and services across the state. Work Details The Architect/Engineer will be responsible for providing a range of services including: 1. Schematic Design: Develop initial design concepts based on programming data defining area usage, project scope, and budget constraints. 2. Design Development: Prepare detailed design documents that include site plans, utilities, floor plans, elevations, sections, structural systems, materials, and finishes. 3. Contract Documents: Create complete working drawings and specifications that comply with applicable laws and regulations. 4. Construction Administration: Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, conduct site visits to monitor progress and quality of work, review contractor submissions such as schedules and values, and provide recommendations for payment. 5. LEED Certification: Assist in achieving LEED certification by incorporating sustainable practices into the design process. Period of Performance The contract will be performed over multiple phases including Schematic Design, Design Development, Contract Documents preparation, Bidding/Award phase, and Construction Administration. Specific timelines will be established upon project initiation but are expected to span several months. Place of Performance The work will be performed at the Boone Rest Areas located along Interstate 75 in Kentucky. Bidder Requirements Bidders must be licensed architects or engineers in Kentucky with experience in similar projects. They are required to follow the Owner's Procedures Manual for Capital Construction Projects and utilize the Owner’s Document Collaboration System for all project correspondence.
