Background The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Forest Service (FS), Intermountain Region, Bridger-Teton National Forest requires the decommissioning, removal, and replacement of a non-functional natural gas furnace at a Forest Service owned residential facility located at 421 Black Avenue, Big Piney, WY, 83113. This project aims to restore heating capabilities in the facility which is approximately 1,560 square feet and was previously serviced by a Lennox Gas Heating Equipment System. Work Details The contractor will perform the following tasks: - Decommission the existing Lennox gas furnace located in a confined crawl space beneath the residence. - Remove the existing natural gas furnace and install a new natural gas furnace that adheres to the specifications outlined in 'SECTION 235416.13 - GAS-FIRED FURNACES'. An acceptable replacement is the 'Coleman 79ES100C20SMPS1 Furnace 96% Efficient ECM Drive Motor', or an approved equal. - Fabricate and install components and other appurtenances necessary for the new furnace installation. - Conduct systems testing to ensure that the heating system functions as expected prior to project closeout. - The contractor must navigate existing plumbing within the crawl space carefully, with clearances between joists and top of pipes approximately 24” – 30” in height, and verify all dimensions before installation. Areas for staging operations and storage of materials must be approved by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
