The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement at its Gaithersburg, MD campus for a narrowband Mid-IR laser with tunable wavelength and tunable repetition rate. Please see attached Solicitation# 1333ND26QNB680275 and related attachments 1 (Statement of Work), and 2 (Applicable Provisions and Clauses) for full details.
Background The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a narrowband Mid-IR laser with tunable wavelength and tunable repetition rate to enhance advanced AFM metrology for measuring thermal properties of materials at the nanoscale. This is part of the CHIPS metrology program aimed at advancing measurement methods and infrastructure to support the development of next-generation microelectronics, ensuring the competitiveness and leadership of the United States. Work Details The contract includes the following line items: - CLIN 0001: Narrowband Mid-IR laser with tunable wavelength and tunable repetition rate, Quantity: 1 Each. The system must meet specific technical specifications including: - Wavelength tunable between ≈ 2.5 μm to 10.0 μm. - Pulse length between 0.1 ns and 10 ns. - Linewidths < 8 cm-1 (preferred < 4 cm-1). - Continuous or stepped tuning with an average rate of ≥ 9 cm-1/s (preferably ≥ 50 cm-1/s). - Repetition rate tunable between 100 kHz to 200 kHz with a resolution of better than 1 kHz. - Average power > 5 mW at a repetition rate of 200 kHz. - CLIN 0002: Shipping and handling, Quantity: 1 Each. - CLIN 0003: Transportation and other related expenses for delivery to the United States, Quantity: 1 Lot (Not-to-Exceed amount). All items must be new, shipped in original packaging with all documentation. Period of Performance Delivery of the laser is due within six months after receipt of order (ARO), installation within four weeks from receipt of the laser, and onsite training for up to five NIST users within seven days from completion of installation. Place of Performance The geographic location for delivery, installation, and training is NIST, Gaithersburg, MD. Bidder Requirements Quoters must possess an ACTIVE registration when submitting a quotation. All items must be new; used or remanufactured equipment will not be considered. The contractor shall provide evidence that they are authorized by the manufacturer to supply the items proposed.
