Summary: Background The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Thermo Electron North America LLC for preventive maintenance of the Thermo Orbitrap Fusion Lumos mass spectrometer. This instrument is critical for ongoing research across multiple laboratories within the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). The goal of this contract is to ensure the mass spectrometer remains in optimal operating condition, thereby supporting NIAAA’s intramural scientific research efforts. Work Details The contractor will provide annual preventive maintenance performed by a factory-certified engineer. This maintenance is essential to ensure that the Orbitrap Lumos mass spectrometer delivers reliable performance and minimizes the risk of costly unplanned downtime due to equipment failure. Delays in securing this service could significantly hinder experimental progress and negatively impact project timelines. Without this service, equipment failure could lead to significant downtime, disrupting ongoing experiments, delaying data collection, and compromising research progress. Period of Performance The contract will be performed annually as part of the preventive maintenance agreement. Bidder Requirements Small businesses such as 8(a), service-disabled veteran owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small business may submit a written capability statement demonstrating their ability to perform the requirement.
