Background The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for the procurement of a humanoid robot to be utilized by the Engineering Laboratory (EL) at NIST's Gaithersburg, MD campus. This acquisition aims to support the Measurement Science for Robotics and Autonomous Systems program by providing a humanoid robot that can develop and validate test methods and metrics for various projects. The robot is expected to have human-like capabilities, including walking, sensing the environment, and interacting with common objects. Work Details The contractor shall deliver one (1) humanoid robot with the following specifications: - Structure: Two arms, two legs, a torso, and a head. - Degrees of Freedom (DOF): Each leg must have at least five (5) DOF from pelvis to foot; each arm must have at least six (6) DOF from torso to end-effector. - The robot should include perception sensors capable of mapping surroundings accurately, identifying safe and unsafe footholds, and detecting obstacles up to five meters away. - Accompanying software or API for interaction with underlying code including joint control commands, motion planning, and sensor feedback is required. - All items must be new; used or remanufactured equipment will not be considered. The offeror must provide evidence of authorization from the original equipment manufacturer to supply the humanoid robot if they are not the manufacturer.
