FY26-04 Hortonville Rd Paving

Background

The Town of Mount Holly is seeking bids from qualified contractors to perform paving work on Hortonville Road. The project aims to enhance the road infrastructure by addressing existing deficiencies and improving road safety through asphalt paving and shoulder gravel installation.

Work Details

The contract includes two main sections of work: 1. **Base Bid – Section 01**: Hortonville and Shunpike Rd Intersection - 11,000 sf - Shim and Overlay Paving. - **Item 01-A**: Asphalt Paving (Estimated 160 tons) - Apply emulsion tack coat prior on stepped mill transitions. - Install 1 ¼” shim/leveling course of Type IV Marshall Mix and a 1 ¼” overlay of Type IV Marshall Mix. - All driveways to have a two-foot paved apron, with paved driveways milled for smooth transition prior to overlay. - Mill transitions for butt joints when tying into existing roads. - **Item 01-B**: Shoulder Gravel (Approximately 30 cy) - Install shoulder gravel as needed along roadway edges and drives. 2. **Base Bid – Section 2**: Portion of Hortonville Rd - 3,700 lf – Asphalt Paving. - Work includes paving from Route 103 to a point approximately 3,700 lf beyond the Stop Sign at Old Turnpike Road Intersection, including widening for Little Rd, Cole Rd, and Old Turnpike Road. - **Item 02-A**: Milling (Estimated quantity of milling is 9970 sy) - Profile mill approx. 1 ½” inches of existing asphalt to achieve proper cross slope to shed water. - **Item 02-B**: Asphalt Paving (Estimated 1450 tons) - Apply emulsion tack coat prior on stepped mill transitions, install shim/leveling course and overlay as specified. - **Item 02-C**: Shoulder Gravel (Approximately 60 cy) - Install shoulder gravel as needed if milling does not address drop-off concerns from added paving.

Period of Performance

The project is anticipated to be awarded by July 14th, 2026, with paving needing to be completed prior to September 15th, 2026.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed in Mount Holly, Vermont, specifically at the intersection of Hortonville Road and Shunpike Road and along the specified portions of Hortonville Road.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be prequalified by VTRANS for the paving category. Bonding is not required; however, insurance requirements will follow VTRANS's Standard Specification Section 103.04.
