Water Street Water Main Replacement Project

Background

The City of Lancaster, PA is seeking competitive bids for the Water Street Water Main Replacement Project. The project aims to replace approximately 1280 linear feet of 6-inch cast iron water main with new 8-inch ductile iron cement lined pipe. This initiative is part of the city's commitment to improving its water infrastructure and ensuring reliable service to its residents.

Work Details

The work under this contract includes: - Replacement of approximately 1280 linear feet of 6-inch cast iron water main with new 8-inch ductile iron cement lined pipe by open cut. - Abandonment of approximately 1100 LF of existing 6” cast iron water main, which shall be capped, isolated, and drained. - Connections for various sizes of existing copper water services (3/4”, 1”, 1-1/2”, and 2”) at specified locations. - Installation of an 8” gate valve and box, reconnecting existing fire hydrants, and installation of necessary fittings such as bends and reducers.

Period of Performance

The contract time shall commence ten days following the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. The work is expected to be substantially completed by November 15, 2026, and fully completed by April 30, 2027.

Place of Performance

The project will take place in the City of Lancaster, specifically in the 100 through 300 blocks of Water Street between Orange Street and Lemon Street.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with all applicable laws protecting individuals from discrimination. They are required to submit a bid security in the amount of 10% of their maximum bid price. Bidders must provide evidence of qualifications including previous experience on similar projects, a list of proposed subcontractors, and compliance with the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act. Additionally, bidders must have a Unique Entity ID from SAM.gov if the contract exceeds $25,000.
