Background

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is issuing this Invitation for Price Quote (IFPQ) 02A2521 for Tree Root Removal and Sidewalk Repair Services in Shasta, Siskiyou, and Trinity County. The contract aims to enhance public safety and infrastructure by addressing issues related to tree roots affecting sidewalks and curbs. Work Details

The contractor will provide all necessary labor, equipment, tools, parts, materials, supplies, travel, permits, fees, and incidentals to perform the following tasks: 1) Remove existing concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter; 2) Trench and remove tree roots; 3) Install root barriers; 4) Treat exposed roots with pruning sealer; 5) Replace removed concrete with new concrete sidewalks (4 inches thick), curb and gutter matching existing conditions; 6) Perform concrete grinding to ensure smooth surfaces; 7) Provide signage for pedestrian safety during work. Specific locations include Weaverville, Redding, and Yreka in the specified counties.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to commence on July 1, 2026 (estimate), or upon approval by Caltrans. The agreement will expire on June 30, 2028 (estimate). Work must be completed during normal business hours from Monday to Friday.

Services will be performed in Shasta County (Weaverville), Siskiyou County (Redding and Yreka), California.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must possess a valid Contractor's State License Board (CSLB) license appropriate for the work type. They must also have a current registration with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). Bidders must be certified small businesses or DVBEs registered with the California Department of General Services. A Payment Bond will be required if the bid exceeds $25,000. Insurance requirements must be met as outlined in the Proposed Form of Agreement.
