Background

Prosper Portland, the economic development and urban renewal agency of the city of Portland, Oregon, is seeking a qualified and experienced partner to oversee the management and operations of My People’s Market (MPM). This initiative debuted in 2017 to connect under-represented business owners with procurement opportunities in the tourism industry. To date, Prosper Portland has successfully delivered 18 markets over nine years, serving over 700 unique businesses and attracting tens of thousands of attendees. The selected partner will work closely with Prosper Portland and the My People’s Market Advisory Board.

Work Details

The selected Awardee will be responsible for: 1) Hosting at least three My People’s Market events: one market in December 2026, at least one market in 2027, and at least one market in 2028. 2) Operations and management of My People’s Market, including site selection, vendor recruitment, event programming, marketing and promotions, as well as day-of-event execution. The awardee must convene the advisory board a minimum of twice a year and develop a sponsorship recruitment strategy. 3) Compliance with grant agreement terms and facilitating advisory board meetings. The advisory board will oversee new sponsors, annual budget allocations, vendor eligibility changes, and vendor fee adjustments. 4) Sponsorship retention and recruiting to ensure future success by managing program funding effectively.

Period of Performance

The contract term is anticipated to be approximately three years with an annual budget of up to $116,000 per year.

Place of Performance

The contract will be performed in Portland, Oregon.

Bidder Requirements

Proposers must demonstrate experience in managing large-scale events, successfully marketing events, organizational capacity for budget management and reporting requirements, strong fundraising capabilities, and authentic connections with diverse communities in Portland.
