Loader Purchase for Town of Barre Highway Department

Background

The Town of Barre, Vermont, is seeking sealed bids from qualified equipment dealers for the purchase of one (1) new, unused 3.5 cubic yard bucket loader for use by the Highway Department. The goal of this contract is to establish minimum acceptable standards for equipment performance, reliability, durability, operator safety, and long-term municipal serviceability. The loader will be utilized for municipal highway maintenance tasks such as snow removal, road maintenance, material handling, and year-round public works operations.

Work Details

The contract involves the procurement of a new 3.5 cubic yard bucket loader that meets or exceeds the following specifications: 1. Engine: Diesel with a minimum of 170hp and 650ft.lbs of torque; includes features like a cooling system with antifreeze, block heater, and compliance with federal emission standards. 2. Transmission: Full power shift with at least 4 forward and 3 reverse speeds; includes a backup alarm. 3. Brakes: Dual pedal system with hydraulic wet disc brakes and emergency brake. 4. Chassis: Minimum operating weight of 35,000 lbs and a fuel tank capacity of at least 50 gallons. 5. Cab: Sound suppressed ROPS cab with air conditioning and safety features. 6. Instruments: Central monitoring system including tachometer and fuel gauge. 7. Electrical System: Minimum 130 amp alternator; must accommodate additional electrical installations. 8. Lights: LED headlights and strobe lights for visibility. 9. Tires: Four winter tires with valve stem protection. 10. Hydraulic System: Features like ride control and automatic boom return. 11. Bucket: Heavy-duty design with self-leveling capabilities; minimum capacity of 3.5 cubic yards. 12. Warranty: Minimum 7 years or 7500 hours full machine warranty.

Period of Performance

The selected vendor must deliver the bucket loader within sixty (60) days of the date of the purchase order.

Place of Performance

Delivery will be made to the Town of Barre, Vermont.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide a trade-in allowance for a 2013 Caterpillar 938G loader as part of their proposal. Bidders are required to demonstrate their proposed loader on-site if selected among the three lowest responsive bidders.
