Public Works Security Fence Installation

Background

The Town of Strasburg is seeking sealed bids from qualified contractors for the installation of a security fence at the Public Works Facility located at 448 Borden Mowery Drive, Strasburg, Virginia. The project aims to enhance security by enclosing a portion of the area used for vehicle, equipment, and material storage. The successful contractor will be responsible for all aspects of the installation process, including labor, materials, equipment, and supervision.

Work Details

The project includes: 1. Installation of approximately 1950 linear feet of 8-foot-tall chain link fence without a security top as per Plan Sheet 2. 2. Construction of one 43-inch-wide personnel gate as per Plan Sheet 3. 3. Construction of one 24-foot-wide vehicle gate as per Plan Sheet 3. 4. Installation of one 24-foot-wide motorized cantilever sliding gate with associated electrical components as detailed in Plan Sheets 4-8, including: - Conductors required in existing 2-1” PVC conduits with pull strings (approximately 275 feet in length). - Overcurrent protection via an existing 20a Square D Bolt-in style breaker. - Manual controls for the gate (Open/Close/Auto) and wireless remote control for office access. - Smartphone application access for approximately 40 staff members or equivalent. 5. Obtaining necessary building and electrical permits from Shenandoah County.

Period of Performance

The contract work is expected to commence upon receipt of the Owner’s written Notice to Proceed and must be completed within the timeframe specified in Section 0501 of the Project Manual.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at the Public Works Facility located at 448 Borden Mowery Drive, Strasburg, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be registered contractors in Virginia and provide evidence of their registration number. They must not be debarred or suspended from bidding on contracts by any agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Additionally, bidders are required to submit bid security amounting to five percent (5%) of the total bid amount along with their proposals.
