WIOUWASH Trail Improvement Project Grant and Engineering

A recent meeting document Winnebago County - Packet - 2026-05-19 indicates a future potential acquisition Winnebago County is seeking funds through grants and donations to help fund the WIOUWASH Trail improvement project. The Parks Department has already received approval for funding in the Parks Department Spirit Fund request for the engineering and design of the WIOUWASH Trail improvement project. The County is interested in obtaining a cost-share grant in the amount of $100,000 from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for the purpose of improvements on the WIOUWASH Trail from Lake Butte des Morts Drive south to the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh Campus and Steiger Park in Oshkosh. This project will likely require engineering, construction, and related consulting services, as well as materials and equipment procurement. The County Board has authorized the County to apply for and accept funds from the DNR for financial assistance that may be available for the WIOUWASH Trail improvement project.
