Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Recruit Training Regiment (RTR) requires a reliable supply of bagged ice to support training operations and to help prevent heat-related illness and other injuries among recruits and supporting personnel. Existing ice sources have proven unreliable due to equipment outages and reliance on courtesy support from facilities that are not contractually required to provide ice. This contract aims to establish a dependable source for the recurring delivery of commercially packaged bagged ice to MCRD San Diego based on projected weekly demand. Work Details The contractor shall provide bagged cube or crushed ice, packaged in commercially approved plastic bags. Each bag must be clearly labeled with the name and place of business of the manufacturer or distributor. The total annual amount of ice required is 47,424 pounds, with each week requiring exactly 912 pounds of ice to be delivered. Deliveries shall be made to the Recruit Chow Hall, Building 569, starting at 0600 on Mondays. A delivery receipt must accompany each delivery, including details such as contractor name, delivery date and time, quantity delivered in pounds, number of bags, remaining amount of ice under the current contract, and the printed name/signature of the receiver. Period of Performance The period of performance will be a 12-month base period with four additional 12-month option periods. Place of Performance Deliveries will be made to the Recruit Chow Hall located at Building 569, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California.
