Coston Road Paving Project

Background

The Lee County Board of Commissioners is issuing this Invitation to Bid for the Coston Road Paving Project, aimed at enhancing local infrastructure by providing road paving services. The project involves the full length of Coston Road (0.73 miles) from Middle Road to Philema Road, focusing on improving road safety and accessibility for the community.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1) Placing 8 inches of Granite Aggregate Base (GAB) compacted in place, covering an area of 9,080 square yards at a width of 21 feet. 2) Applying a bituminous primer at a rate of 0.15 gallons per square yard, totaling 1,362 gallons. 3) Installing a leveling course of 9.5 mm asphalt at a weight of 110 lbs/sy, totaling 495 tons. 4) Applying a bituminous tack coat at a rate of 0.05 gallons per square yard, totaling 433 gallons. 5) Overlaying with 9.5 mm asphalt pavement at a weight of 165 lbs/sy, totaling 750 tons. Additional work includes high build traffic striping (solid double yellow centerline and solid white edge line), thermo stop bars, raised pavement markers, shoulder grading, and driveway grading as specified in the bid form.

Period of Performance

The contractor must begin work within 60 calendar days following written notification from the County to proceed and complete all work within an additional 60 days thereafter.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be Georgia Department of Transportation certified and provide proof of various insurances including general liability insurance ($1 million), automobile liability insurance ($1 million), and workers' compensation insurance as required by Georgia law. A bid bond or cashier's check for 10% of the bid amount is also required along with affidavits confirming registration with E-Verify for immigration status verification.
