Well 7 and 7A Extension

Background

The City of Avondale's Public Works Department is issuing this Invitation for Bids (IFB) for the PW 26-011 Well 7 and 7A Extension project. The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the Well 7 site, which is critical for the city's water supply and infrastructure. The City aims to secure a qualified contractor with a General Engineering or KA Dual Engineering license to perform the necessary construction work and provide materials as outlined in the specifications attached to this IFB.

Work Details

The work includes: 1. Rehabilitation of the Well 7 site, which involves: - Installation of an emergency generator. - Upgrades to electrical equipment. - Modifications to piping. - Undergrounding of existing overhead electrical power service to the site. - Construction of an 8-ft high CMU security wall and wrought iron gate along El Mirage Rd. 2. Replacement of existing 12-inch ductile iron pipe (DIP) along El Mirage Rd south of Indian School Rd intersection with approximately 333 linear feet (LF) of a new 16-inch DIP water transmission main with appurtenances and approximately 377 LF of parallel double 2.5-inch conduits for future fiber optic communication. 3. An alternative bid includes installation of approximately 1,357 LF of a new 12-inch DIP with appurtenances and approximately 1,385 LF of parallel double 2.5-inch conduits for future fiber optic communication along Indian School Rd, west of the El Mirage Rd intersection.

Period of Performance

The contract period will last eight (8) months from the Notice to Proceed. Work on Well 7 rehabilitation will commence after October 7, 2026, due to high water demand season restrictions; however, construction on ductile iron pipe installations can begin prior to this date.

Place of Performance

The project will be performed at the Well 7 site located at Indian School Road and El Mirage Road within the City of Avondale, Arizona.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be licensed as a General Engineering or KA Dual Engineering Contractor. They must demonstrate successful completion of at least three similar projects within the past five years, with one project having a contract value at least 75% of this project's total bid price. Bidders are required to submit a non-revocable bid security equal to ten percent (10%) of the total bid price.
