Background

The Hudson Valley DDSO (Developmental Disabilities Services Office) is issuing a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the design of new egress stairs at Building 9. The goal of this contract is to ensure compliance with ADA guidelines and New York State public works regulations while enhancing safety and accessibility at the facility.

Work Details

The contractor will provide all labor and materials necessary to design new egress stairs to replace existing ones, including a concrete walkway leading to the driveway. The design must meet the following specifications: 1) Incorporate ADA guidelines; 2) Rebuild stair platform walls using similar stone materials; 3) Remove and replace the top deck/platform with a new concrete deck of the same thickness; 4) Construct stairs from concrete with proper footing, adhering to ADA standards; 5) Ensure stair width is a minimum of four feet; 6) Install ADA standard railings (PVC coated over aluminum); 7) Ensure handrails are ADA compliant; 8) Provide a walkway leading from stairs to parking/roadway area, also a minimum of four feet wide; 9) Comply with current NYS Code and manufacturer guidelines; 10) Obtain approval from OPWDD’s Architect for the design. The vendor must also schedule a quality control and assurance inspection upon completion before removing equipment and scaffolding. All work must be completed within 30 days of award.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have at least two years of relevant experience on similar projects. They must provide their NYSDOL registration number and certificate at the time of bid submission. Subcontracting is not allowed without written approval from OPWDD. Bidders are required to submit certificates of Liability Insurance and Worker’s Compensation Insurance along with completed Lobbying Law Forms.
