Coffee County Library Renovation

Background

The Satilla Regional Library System (SRLS) is seeking proposals for the renovation of the Douglas-Coffee County Library, a 20,000 sq ft facility. The focus of this project is to renovate the public areas of the library, which constitute approximately 75% of the building, totaling around 15,000 sq ft. The aim is to enhance the accessibility and aesthetics of these spaces.

Work Details

The scope of work includes a $1 million renovation involving several key tasks: 1. **Demolition**: Complete removal of existing flooring in the main library, genealogy area, children's area, lobby, bathrooms, and conference room. Removal of wall and floor tiles in the main restrooms is also required. 2. **Preparation**: Preparing sub-floors for new flooring installation and preparing walls for painting in both interior public access areas and exterior surfaces. Main restrooms will require preparation for new tile installation. 3. **Installation**: Installation of new flooring in specified areas using commercial grade LVP, tiles, and carpet as approved by the Coffee County Library Board. Painting will utilize at least Sherwin Williams products or better. New tiles and fixtures will be installed in the main restrooms. 4. **Replacement**: Replacement of exterior mechanical room double doors. 5. **Renovation Coordination**: The project will be divided into at least four phases to minimize disruption to library services while ensuring efficient workflow during renovations.

The project timeline includes a bid submission deadline on June 16, 2026, with work expected to commence thereafter and be completed in phases as outlined in the scope.
