Background

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is seeking contractors for the replacement of Federal Pacific electrical switch-gear at Fields Road Elementary School located in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This project aims to ensure compliance with MCPS specifications and relevant codes, enhancing the electrical infrastructure of the school.

Work Details

The work includes the removal, furnishing, delivery, and complete replacement of Federal Pacific electrical switch-gear and main feeder wires. This encompasses all related materials necessary to complete the project in accordance with MCPS specifications and manufacturer installation requirements. Specific tasks include: - Replacing an I-T-E switchboard and twelve (12) panelboards; - Removing existing underground conductors; - Abandoning existing conduit grade; - Providing overhead feeders where indicated; - Ensuring all work adheres to applicable building codes and standards.

Period of Performance

The project is scheduled to begin on June 21, 2027, with a completion deadline of August 20, 2027. The electrical systems must be operational and accepted by the State by August 6, 2027.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must possess a current State of Maryland Construction Business License and relevant trade licenses. They are required to provide a Bid Security of 10% for bids exceeding $100,000. Additionally, bidders must submit a statement of experience demonstrating at least five years in similar installations and a manufacturer's authorization letter for the equipment offered. The goal is set for 10% Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) participation.
