The Mt. Zion Home Connections project is initiated by Charles City County to replace the existing Mt. Zion AirVac system along Wilcox Neck Road with a new conveyance system. The goal of this contract is to install a Low-Pressure Sewer system that includes 97 simplex grinder pump stations for residential properties along Wilcox Neck Road, ensuring proper connection to plumbing and electrical systems for efficient operation.
The project involves the following key tasks: 1. **Plumbing Connections:** - Hand dig to locate the existing sewer line between each home and the existing Air Vacuum pit. - Cut and connect the existing sewer line to the grinder station, capping any remaining pipe to abandon in place. - Install new lateral piping, assumed to be 4-inch PVC, running up to a maximum of 20 feet of Schedule 40 PVC per home. - Install cleanouts at all redirected gravity laterals. - Backfill existing and proposed lines with soils/fill dirt and topsoil, followed by seeding and strawing all excavated areas. 2. **Electrical Connections:** - Installation of one (1) 30 Amp, 120/240 V, 4 wire circuit for each grinder pump, including all inspection fees and coordination with County Building Inspection. - Upgrades to existing electrical distribution equipment as needed, including Buck Boosters. - Installation of circuit from the building to the backboard/control panel, including a safety switch and wiring from the safety switch to the pump controller. - Ensure that breakers inside the pump controller (for pump and alarm) are left in the open position upon completion. - Construct a mount for the pump control panel using PT lumber to hold the electrical panel and disconnect for each property, supported by two (2) 4’ x 4” PT legs and three (3) ¾” x 5” PT decking boards.
The work is expected to be substantially complete within 30 days from notice to proceed and fully completed within 60 days from notice to proceed.
