FL-HOBE SOUND NWR-PREDATOR CONTROL

Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge, established in 1968, is located along Florida's southeast coast and aims to conserve threatened and endangered wildlife, including all species of Florida sea turtles. The refuge is facing challenges such as habitat loss and heavy predation, which have led to significant declines in marine turtle populations. This contract is aimed at procuring predator control services to reduce sea turtle nest depredation and protect other Trust Resources within the refuge. Work Details The contractor will provide non-personal services to selectively remove/control predators in areas along the Refuge beach and Mainland tracts. The primary goal is to reduce nest depredations, increase sea turtle nesting success, and protect other Trust Resources as needed. The contractor must furnish all personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items necessary for the performance of these services. The contractor must be a Certified Wildlife Biologist® with a minimum of 100 hours of documented experience in trapping and removal of predators such as coyotes and hogs from public lands. Services will include but are not limited to: 1) Conducting predator control/removal for various species; 2) Ensuring compliance with standards set forth in the contract; 3) Reporting on activities and outcomes related to predator control efforts. Period of Performance The contract work shall commence within 2 weeks of award date or within 30 days of notification from an authorized Government representative. The project is expected to be fully completed by November 30, 2026. Place of Performance The work will be performed within the boundaries of the Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge located in Hobe Sound, Martin County, Florida.
