Summary (Newest Update)

Background The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Acquisitions and Grants Services (OAGS), is issuing this sources sought announcement on behalf of the Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Office of Applied Science. The laboratory at the FDA CVM is pursuing projects involving biologically hazardous samples, necessitating the use of appropriately rated biosafety cabinets (BSCs). The current BSCs are evaluated as inadequate and require replacement. The goal of this contract is to acquire seven new BSCs to perform lab work for biological studies while ensuring proper protection for scientists. Work Details The Contractor shall provide seven (7) biosafety cabinets consisting of: One (1) 6-foot wide unit and Six (6) 4-foot wide units. All BSCs must meet certification standards (NSF/ANSI 49) upon delivery. Minimum requirements include: - Units available in widths of 6 ft (one unit) and 4 ft (six units). - Performance requirements must meet NSF/ANSI 49 standards. - Supply HEPA filters must be 99.99% efficient at a particle size of 0.3 micron by DOP test, covering full cabinet work zone width and depth. - Exhaust HEPA filters must also be 99.99% efficient at a particle size of 0.3 microns by DOP test. - Constructed from 16 or 18 gauge Type 304 stainless steel, forming a monolithic, sealed structure. - Height adjustable base stand with workspace height adjustable from at least 30 to 36 inches. - Power supplied with a minimum 12-foot grounded electrical cable; electrical supply should be 115 VAC, 60 Hz. - Easily transportable through a door without disassembly, measuring at least 40 inches wide and 83 inches tall. - Standard features include two outlets with drip proof covers, various service couplings, front filter removal capability without disassembly, sliding viewing window operating smoothly from full closure to full opening at 20 inches, working access height of 10 inches, non-metallic armrest/airfoil with at least a 2-inch forearm support area, audible alarm and flashing LED for unsafe viewscreen position and power loss signals, base stand with work surface height between 25 and 35 inches, ultraviolet light fixture, and warranty for parts and labor for at least 60 months from acceptance date. Pricing must include shipping costs. Place of Performance FDA White Oak Campus, 10903 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20993
