Liquid Carbon Dioxide for Water Treatment

Background

The City of Ames, Iowa, is seeking bids from qualified vendors for the supply of liquid carbon dioxide for its Water & Pollution Control Department. This contract aims to establish pricing for the period from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, with an option for a one-year extension through June 30, 2028. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to make awards that are in its best interest.

Work Details

The contractor will provide liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) with the following specifications: - Estimated quantity: 330 tons. - Purity: Not less than 99.5% by weight with moisture content not exceeding 0.1% by weight. - Oil content: Not exceeding 0.0005%. - The CO2 must not contain harmful mineral or organic substances and should not impart any objectionable taste or odor to treated water. - A quarterly certification of analytical reports is required to ensure compliance with specifications. - The CO2 must be certified suitable for drinking water treatment under ANSI/NSF Standard 60 and meet ANSI/AWWA B510-18 standards. - Delivery will be made to the Water Plant at 1800 East 13th Street, Ames, Iowa, via truck. The contractor is responsible for maintaining a minimum level of CO2 in two storage tanks (30 tons each). - All deliveries must be FOB Destination with full freight allowed.

Period of Performance

The contract will be performed from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with an optional renewal period extending through June 30, 2028.

Place of Performance

The contract will be performed at the Water Plant located at 1800 East 13th Street, Ames, Iowa.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide evidence of NSF certification with their bid and are required to submit a reference listing of municipal water treatment or power plants they have supplied similar materials to within the last five years.
