Crystal Prairie Lake Park Phase 1

Background

The City of Wichita is seeking bids for the construction services required for the Crystal Prairie Lake Park Phase 1 project, aimed at enhancing public infrastructure and recreational facilities. The project is part of the Public Works & Utilities Department's efforts to improve community amenities and promote outdoor activities.

Work Details

The contract includes a variety of construction tasks as outlined in the bid items: - Mobilization, Site Clearing, Removal of Existing Structures, Temporary Seeding, Pre-cast Benches and Walls, Foundations for Precast Walls, Construction Entrance, Grading (Mass), Monument Sign, Pedestrian Beacon (Yellow Flashing Beacon), Traffic Control, Tree Protection Fencing (Installed), Signing. - Measured Quantity Bid Items include Excavation (210 CY), Tree Protection Fencing (640 LF), Fill (Compacted 95% Density - 20,010 CY; 90% Density - 663 CY), Trash Receptacle Stand (1 EA), Concrete Pavement Removed (39 SY), Concrete Flume (1 EA), Retaining Wall (Sidewalk - 890 SFF), Concrete Ramp Nose Section (Median - 2 EA), Concrete Curb Removed and Replaced (125 LF), Combined Curb and Gutter Types 1 & 3, Concrete Sidewalks in various specifications and sizes, AC Pavement, Crushed Rock Base, Wheelchair Ramps, various Pipe installations including SWS and End Sections in different sizes. Additional items include Rip-rap for slope protection, Fence installation/removal/replacement, Tree removal of small and large sizes, BMP installations for erosion control, Bollards installation, Pavement markings for accessibility compliance, and landscaping elements including trees and shrubs.

Period of Performance

The project is expected to commence with a work order issued within twenty days after the contract award. The overall completion date is set for December 11, 2026. Specific components such as public art installations are to be completed by March 19, 2027, while landscaping must be finalized by April 30, 2027.

Place of Performance

The construction will take place at Crystal Prairie Lake Park located at the northeast quadrant of K-96 Highway and North Hoover Road in Wichita, Kansas.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have a minimum of three years' experience in similar services. They must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Registration with the Kansas Secretary of State's Office is required before contract execution. Bidders should also have the capacity to acquire necessary bonds and insurance as specified in the solicitation documents.
