CO - Education - Welding Simulators

Background

The Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) is seeking to procure welding simulators to enhance vocational, career, and technical education for youth. The goal of this contract is to provide advanced training tools that support the development of essential welding skills in a safe and controlled environment.

Work Details

The contract involves supplying dual welding simulator units that allow simultaneous training for two operators. Key features include touchscreen monitors, VR headsets, and various welding devices that simulate machine setup, provide audio feedback, and replicate welding processes including puddle formation, sparks, slag, grinding, and cooling. The simulators will also track and score key weld parameters such as angle, speed, and position. The equipment must support multiple welding types (GMAW, FCAW, MIG, SMAW, GTAW) and processes (Short Arc, Axial Spray, Pulse). Additionally, it should include various welding coupons and support different joint types (groove, fillet) with materials like Carbon Steel and Aluminum. Training manuals are included along with a limited warranty with options for extended coverage. Software updates must be provided during the warranty period.

Period of Performance

The contract performance is expected to commence upon award and delivery of the simulators by June 1, 2026.

Place of Performance

The simulators are to be delivered to three locations in Ohio: Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility (1 unit), Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility (1 unit), and Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility (2 units).
