Overflow Animal Control Facility Services

Background

The City of Akron is seeking to contract with a facility or facilities that can accept canines collected by the Police Department or Animal Warden at all hours of the day, 365 days a year. This contract aims to provide overflow animal control services when the City's primary facility is unavailable. The selected supplier must be duly registered with the Ohio Secretary of State and comply with all local, state, and federal laws governing animal control operations.

Work Details

The contractor will provide overflow animal control facility services, including: - Accepting canines of every breed and size; - Accommodating injured, sick, abused, or unknown condition animals; - Maintaining industry-standard insurance; - Ensuring easy access for City personnel; - Providing care for canines (feeding, grooming, exercise); - Having protocols for after-hours canine collection. The facility must also be able to accept non-canine animals if applicable. The preferred fee structure is per dog/per day pricing with half-day pricing for those less than 8 hours and billed monthly.

Period of Performance

The contract term will be for one (1) year from the date of award, with an option for two (2) additional one-year renewals at the same pricing as the initial term. A 30-day cancellation notice by the City is required.

Place of Performance

Services must be provided at a facility located within Akron city limits or sufficiently adjacent to Akron to ensure easy access for City personnel.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be duly registered with the Ohio Secretary of State and provide proof of registration. They must have all necessary licenses and permits to operate as an animal control facility. Additionally, bidders must maintain industry-standard insurance coverage as specified in the RFP.
