The project aims to enhance the safety and performance of domestic hot and cold-water plumbing systems. Work Details The scope of work includes: - Removal of all dead-leg piping sections to reduce stagnation and pathogen growth. - Re-insulation of domestic hot water piping where insulation is missing or damaged. - Installation of chlorination injection stations on each floor. - Increasing water heater temperatures to 140°F and installing mixing valves where necessary. - Extending domestic hot water return piping to within 6 feet of all fixtures and installing point-of-use mixing valves at sinks/lavatories. - Replacement of domestic hot water recirculation pumps for increased flow rates. - Installation of a chilled domestic water system, including a chiller, heat exchanger, and chilled water pumps to maintain incoming domestic water at 68°F. - Insulation of all existing and new chilled water piping. - Implementation of a continuous monitoring system for incoming domestic water quality, measuring pH, chlorine levels, and temperature. - Coordination with facility engineering and clinical services to maintain patient care operations during construction.
