Regional Bike Master Plan Project Implementation - BKT Bikeway Feasibility Study

Work Requested

The project involves conducting a comprehensive feasibility study for the development of the BKT Bikeway. The study area follows Kenmore Ave from the Tonawanda Rails to Trails path in the east, proceeds south along Military Rd, continues west along Skillen St, and then southwest along Esser Ave. The selected firm will be responsible for: - Planning, designing, and evaluating the proposed bikeway corridor - Assessing the practicality and potential challenges of constructing the bikeway along the specified route - Providing recommendations and strategies for successful implementation Who is Requesting: This solicitation is issued by the Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC), which serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Erie and Niagara Counties.

Background

The BKT Bikeway project is identified as a priority corridor in the 2020 Regional Bike Master Plan. The need for this feasibility study was jointly submitted to GBNRTC by the Town of Tonawanda and the City of Buffalo, seeking technical assistance for the project.

Contract Requirements

Qualified firms must demonstrate experience in the planning, design, and construction of trails and bikeways. There is no Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goal for this procurement.
