Emergency Vehicle Upfitting

Background

The City of Suffolk is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to provide Emergency Vehicle Upfitting services. This initiative aims to enhance the City’s vehicle fleet by integrating essential emergency equipment and accessories, ensuring that public safety operations are effectively supported. The contract will establish an annual agreement with multiple contractors to guarantee timely and high-quality service.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the supply, installation, and integration of emergency equipment for various City-owned vehicles, including police vehicles, light duty trucks, heavy duty trucks, vans, and other equipment as requested. Services include: - Installation of emergency lighting and sirens - Communication equipment - Vehicle graphics - Door wrapping and optional painting - Window tinting - Electrical systems - Other specialized components All goods must be new OEM unless otherwise approved. The contractor must also provide written quotes for each vehicle detailing parts, labor costs, and shipping fees. Installation must comply with all applicable laws and standards.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence upon award and continue through June 30, 2027, with options to renew for four additional one-year periods until June 30, 2031.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at the contractor's facility, approved subcontractor facilities, or at the City of Suffolk facility as needed.

Bidder Requirements

Contractors must have qualified personnel including a Lead Technician with at least two years of experience in emergency vehicle equipment installation. Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification is preferred. Contractors must also maintain a secure facility for all vehicles under their custody and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
