Oldfield Sidewalk Replacement

Background

The Oldfield Sidewalk Replacement project is issued by the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). The goal of this contract is to remove and replace the existing sidewalk at 226 Oldfield Dr, Herkimer, NY, ensuring compliance with public works standards and maintaining safety for residents during construction.

Work Details

The contractor will perform the following tasks: 1. Preparation and Demolition: - Saw-cut edges of existing concrete for clean removal. - Break up and remove existing concrete sidewalk. - Legally dispose of all debris off-site. - Prune invasive tree roots under supervision to prevent future damage. 2. Subgrade Preparation: - Grade and excavate pathway to required depth for new base material. - Compact existing subgrade dirt. - Supply, place, and compact a minimum of 4" crushed aggregate base to 95% relative compaction. 3. Forming, Reinforcing, and Pouring: - Install straight, rigid forms securely braced for alignment. - Ensure ADA compliance with proper slopes and install curb ramps with detectable warning panels. - Reinforce with #3 rebar or 6x6 wire mesh in the center third of the slab. - Pour concrete at a minimum thickness of 4 inches for pedestrian paths and 6 inches for driveways, applying a non-slip finish. 4. Curing, Cleanup, and Restoration: - Apply curing compound or cover with wet burlap/plastic sheeting post-finishing. - Remove forms without damaging concrete, backfill edges with topsoil, seed or replace sod as necessary. 5. General Requirements: Work must be completed within 30 days of award; all tools must be secured daily; smoking is prohibited on site; safety data sheets must be provided prior to work commencement.

Bidder Requirements

Contractors must be registered with the New York State Department of Labor before submitting a bid.
