Turnkey Retrofit of Wastewater Lift Station to Submersible Pump System

Background

The City of Great Bend, Kansas is seeking proposals from qualified contractors for a complete turnkey retrofit of an existing wastewater lift station that currently uses vacuum prime systems. The goal of this project is to convert the lift station to a fully submersible pump configuration, enhancing operational efficiency and reliability.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Removal of all existing vacuum prime equipment, pumps, and controls. 2. Installation of new submersible non-clog wastewater pumps with slide rail systems for easy removal. 3. Replacement of all electrical systems including NEMA-rated control enclosures, soft start motor controls, and necessary conduits and wiring. 4. Installation of dual pump activation systems with primary and backup level sensing systems and high-level alarms. 5. Improvements to the wet well including OSHA-compliant fall protection and structural grating over openings. 6. If an above-ground vault is used, it must be insulated, ventilated, and constructed from corrosion-resistant materials. The contractor must ensure continuous wastewater service during construction through proper bypass pumping operations, which includes providing redundant pumping capacity and monitoring systems.

Period of Performance

The contract work must be completed within eight (8) months from the date of contract execution.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at Lift Station #13 located at 18th & Hubbard (1515 18th St.), Great Bend, Kansas.

Bidder Requirements

Contractors must provide a Performance Bond and Payment Bond equal to 100% of the contract value issued by a surety licensed in Kansas. They are required to maintain Commercial General Liability Insurance, Workers Compensation Insurance, and Automobile Liability Insurance with specified coverage limits naming the City as an Additional Insured. Additionally, contractors must comply with all applicable federal and state regulations including obtaining necessary permits.
