Tree Maintenance Services

Background

Towson University, located eight miles north of Baltimore, is seeking bids for tree maintenance services to support its mission of maintaining a safe and aesthetically pleasing campus environment. The university has a strong commitment to sustainability and has been recognized as a Tree Campus USA for eight consecutive years. The contract aims to ensure the health and safety of over 2200 trees on campus, including the Glen Arboretum, which serves educational and community engagement purposes.

Work Details

The contractor will provide scheduled tree maintenance, Plant Health Care (PHC), tree and stump removals, debris removal, and emergency tree services as needed. Specific tasks include: 1) Holistic Managed Tree Care and Inventory Tracking; 2) Annual Rotation of Maintenance Zones; 3) Plant Healthcare; 4) Tree Preservation Program; 5) Community Education and Outreach Support at the Glen Arboretum. Work will be organized into four maintenance zones on campus: Zone 1 (Campus Core), Zone 2 (Core Campus Satellite), Zone 3 (South Campus), and Zone 4 (Glen Arboretum). All work is performed on an as-needed basis with no guaranteed minimum usage.

Period of Performance

The contract will have a base term of two years with three one-year renewal options, commencing upon award.

Place of Performance

All services will be performed on the Towson University campus located in Towson, Maryland.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have at least five years of experience in tree removal and maintenance. They are required to submit documentation proving their qualifications, including certifications such as Certified Arborist (ISA), Certified Safety Tree Person (CSTP), Certified Plant Health Care Technician, Tree Risk Assessment Qualified Arborist (TRAQ), and Maryland Department of Natural Resources Tree Care Expert License. Bidders must also provide evidence of insurance coverage as specified in the solicitation.
