The Western Maryland Hospital Center is seeking a vendor to provide blood transfusion services and laboratory services when its Clinical Laboratory is not operational. The goal of this contract is to ensure timely and accurate laboratory testing and blood transfusion services for patient care at the hospital, located at 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD. The contract will be effective from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027.
The Contractor shall provide the following services: 1. **Laboratory Test Services**: Daily pick-ups for routine specimens at scheduled times and on-call STAT coverage 24/7. STAT tests must be completed within two hours of request. Specific tests include General Chemistries, Hematology, Coagulation Blood Bank, and others as determined by medical staff. 2. **Blood and Transfusion Services**: Type, Hold, and Crossmatch services including all supplies associated with blood transfusions. Emergency orders must have a turnaround time of two hours. 3. **General Services**: Provide necessary supplies for testing (e.g., urine containers, blood collection tubes), maintain inventory levels through weekly coordination with hospital staff, and ensure quality assurance programs are in place. 4. **Consultation**: Availability for consultation regarding laboratory testing results and assistance during inspections by regulatory bodies.
