Background

The City of Montpelier is seeking proposals for construction work at 201 State Street, aimed at elevating an existing building. This project is part of the city's efforts to enhance infrastructure and sustainability, overseen by the Office of the Facilities and Sustainability Coordinator. The work will follow construction drawings provided by Stevens and Associates Architects and DeWolfe Engineering.

Work Details

The contractor shall furnish all materials, tools, and labor to complete the following tasks: 1. Jacking the existing building and lowering it onto a new foundation. 2. Demolition and disposal of the existing foundation. 3. Excavation for the new foundation, including ledge removal as noted on drawings. 4. Installation of new footings, concrete walls, piers, and steel beams as shown on drawings. 5. Application of foundation coating and insulation. 6. Backfill, grading, and site work as indicated in the drawings. 7. Installation of a new basement slab. Note that carpentry, plumbing, heating, and electrical contractors are expected to be retained under a separate RFP and must coordinate their work with this project.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to commence upon issuance of a Notice to Proceed within ten days after execution of the Agreement by the City. Completion dates will be specified by the contractor in their bid.

The work will be performed at 201 State Street, Montpelier, Vermont.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide certificates for Workers Compensation, Automobile Liability, Public Liability, and Property Damage insurance before commencing work. The contractor must carry Workers Compensation Insurance according to Vermont state laws with specified coverage limits for liability insurance. A W-9 form must also be submitted prior to starting work.
