Background The City of Sun Prairie, through its Department of Public Works, is seeking proposals from qualified vendors for refuse and recycling collection and hauling services. The goal of this contract is to ensure efficient waste management and recycling services for the city's residents and facilities, supporting the city's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Work Details The contractor will provide the following services: 1. Collection of refuse from each residential unit at least once every seven days. 2. Collection of recyclables from each residential unit at least once every seven days. 3. Provision of all necessary labor, equipment, materials, and facilities for the collection and disposal of refuse and recyclables. 4. Collection services for all City-owned facilities at no additional charge. 5. Conducting lab analysis testing of grit from the Waste Water Treatment Facility to confirm it is non-hazardous waste, with costs reimbursed by the City. 6. Collection services at the City Recycle Center for waste and recycling at no additional cost to the City. 7. Arranging two hazardous waste collection events per year at no additional cost to the City. 8. Providing a minimum of four residential yard waste collection service weeks annually, billed separately based on an hourly rate. 9. Pricing for alternate bid services including construction debris and bulk item collection. Period of Performance The contract will commence on January 1, 2027, and will last for five years until January 1, 2032, with an option to extend for one additional year upon mutual agreement. Place of Performance All services will be performed within the corporate boundaries of the City of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Bidder Requirements Bidders must have a minimum of 7 years verifiable experience in curbside collection of refuse and recycling in municipalities with populations over 10,000. Additionally, bidders must have an established place of business within 40 miles of Sun Prairie that includes an office and vehicle dispatch capabilities.
