Sealed Proposals in response to this Request for Proposal ( RFP ) will be received by the Board of Water and Light ( BWL ) for furnishing of Willow-Northeast Transmission Structures. Proposals must be in full accordance with the enclosed Scope of Work. Proposals must be submitted through IonWave. Proposals received via e-mail will not be accepted. The BWL reserves the right to reject any or all Proposals, waive irregularities or technicalities in any Proposal, and accept any Proposal in whole or in part, which in the opinion of the BWL, is in its best interest. The BWL does not limit the methods or factors to be used for evaluation.
Background The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) is the largest municipally owned electric utility in Michigan, serving approximately 100,000 customers. The BWL is seeking proposals for the furnishing of Willow-Northeast Transmission Structures to enhance its electric distribution system. This contract aims to procure transmission wood poles or equivalents that meet specific engineering and safety standards. Work Details The contract involves the procurement of seven transmission structures with the following specifications: Five structures at 100 feet, one structure at 95 feet, and one structure at 90 feet. The acceptable materials include wood, light-duty steel, composite fiber-reinforced polymer, and ductile iron. Each structure must include accessories such as field bolts, locknuts, and attachment provisions for arms or insulators. The structures must meet a minimum ground line capacity of 450 ft-kips and include grounding provisions. Proposals must comply with nationally accepted standards and provide detailed shop drawings that outline dimensions, capacities, and material specifications. Period of Performance The contract performance period will commence upon award and is expected to be completed within a specified timeframe as outlined in the proposal documents. Place of Performance The work will be performed at designated locations within the service area of the Lansing Board of Water & Light.
