Background Kanawha County Schools is soliciting bids for the construction of Secured Vestibules at multiple sites. The goal of this contract is to enhance security measures within the school facilities. The project is overseen by the Kanawha County Board of Education, which aims to improve safety for students and staff through the installation of secured vestibules. Work Details The work includes general construction services for the installation of secured vestibules at various school locations. Specific tasks involve: - Selective demolition - Installation of hollow metal doors and frames - Aluminum-framed entrances and storefronts - Security windows - Door hardware - Automatic door operators - Glazing and security glazing The contractor will also be responsible for electrical work related to these installations. All work must comply with the specifications outlined in the project manual. Period of Performance The contract period will commence immediately upon notice to proceed and is expected to be completed within a specified timeframe as detailed in Section 011000 of the project manual. Place of Performance The work will be performed at multiple sites within Kanawha County, West Virginia. Bidder Requirements Bidders must possess a valid West Virginia Contractor License and be registered with the West Virginia Department of Tax and Revenue prior to bid submission. A satisfactory bid bond equal to 5% of the total bid amount must be submitted with each proposal. Bidders are required to provide a complete list of major subcontractors and equipment/material suppliers as part of their bid documentation.
