Background The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking to establish a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for poison control services. The goal of this contract is to provide comprehensive assessment and emergency treatment recommendations for various poisoning incidents, including accidental exposures to medications, household substances, and other toxic agents. This service aims to enhance public health and safety by ensuring timely and effective responses to poisoning emergencies. Work Details The vendor must provide the following services: - Assessment guidance on poison accidents, including treatment for accidental poisonings, information on poison prevention, assistance with drug overdoses, bites and stings, adverse reactions to drugs and chemicals, toxicity from drug interactions, poisonings from drugs of abuse (e.g., cocaine, LSD), spider and snake bites, animal poisonings, hazardous spill exposures, occupational chemical exposures, chronic lead poisoning, toxic/non-toxic plant information, and educational programs. - Unlimited calls to the Poison Control Center via a toll-free line staffed by trained registered nurses. - 24-hour availability of the Poison Control Center Physician Medical Director for emergency poisoning management year-round. - Customized fax transmissions to supplement information provided by poison information specialists. - Management of hazardous chemical exposures using Operation Respond software for identifying hazardous materials transported by railcar in West Virginia. - Attendance at hospital health fairs upon request (subject to staff availability). - Hospital in-services and continuing education programs on toxicology topics upon request (subject to staff availability). - Provision of educational materials such as Mr. YUK free of charge in reasonable quantities. Period of Performance The contract will be performed from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2031. Place of Performance Services will be performed at multiple locations including: - Beckley VAMC, 200 Veterans Avenue, Beckley WV 25801 - Hershel 'Woody' Williams VAMC (Huntington VAMC), 1540 Spring Valley Drive, Huntington WV 25704 - Louis A. Johnson VAMC (Clarksburg VAMC), 1 Medical Center Drive, Clarksburg WV 26301 - Martinsburg VAMC, 510 Butler Avenue, Martinsburg WV 25405.
