The contractor shall remove outdated heating and electrical components and install new, fully functional systems tailored to each shelter's needs. Work includes replacing the existing 10kW, 34K BTU electric heaters in Shelters 1 and 2; installing new non explosion proof light and fan switch kits (two switch assemblies) in all applicable shelters; and providing new explosion proof interior light assemblies in Shelters 2 and 3. All repairs must ensure the shelters meet operational requirements for the safe storage of petroleum, oil, and lubricants and restore reliable environmental control across the facility.
Background The U.S. Government, specifically the 404 Aviation Support Battalion (ASB), is seeking to repair three Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricant (POL) shelters to ensure they maintain a temperature-controlled environment necessary for the safe storage of petroleum products. The contract aims to replace outdated heating and electrical components with new systems tailored to each shelter's needs, ensuring compliance with operational requirements. Work Details The contractor will perform the following tasks: 1. Remove outdated heating and electrical components from three POL shelters: - Shelter 1: Remove old heater and install a new 10KW, 34K BTU electric heater and non-explosion-proof light and fan switch kit. - Shelter 2: Remove old heater, light switch kit, and install new equipment including an explosion-proof interior light assembly. - Shelter 3: Remove old light switch kit and install new equipment including an explosion-proof interior light assembly. 2. Package and ship all new heaters, light switch kits, and fans to the 404 ASB maintenance hangar. 3. Dispose of all removed equipment in accordance with company policies. 4. Install new heaters, light switch kits, and fans in each shelter and test to ensure the temperature-controlled environment is restored. Place of Performance The work will be conducted at BLDG 9630 on Fort Carson, CO, specifically at the maintenance hangar of the 404 ASB where the three POL shelters are located.
