Background The Western Area Power Administration is issuing a contract for the Verona-Great Falls 161KV Transmission Line Rebuild, Phase 03, in Montana. The agency's mission involves providing reliable and affordable electric power to customers. This project aims to enhance the infrastructure of the transmission line to ensure continued service and reliability. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, and other resources necessary to complete the construction of the Verona – Great Falls 161KV Transmission Line Rebuild, Phase 3. The principal components of work include: - Removing approximately 12.8 miles of wood H-frame 161kV transmission line; - Rebuilding new wood H-frame 161kV transmission structures (designed for 230kV) from structure 66/5 to structure 79/3; - Installing new 954-kcmil ACSR, 45/7 strand Rail conductor; - Installing one (1) 3/8-inch extra high strength overhead ground wire (OGW); - Installing one (1) 0.465-inch, 24-fiber optical ground wire (OPGW) from structure 66/1 to structure 79/3. Additionally, new OGW and OPGW will be installed from existing structure 100/3 to new steel monopole structure 101/6A. New OPGW will also be installed from structure 101/6A to T.GTF.VR.
