Background The Clinical Center Complex of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is a biomedical research hospital located in Bethesda, Maryland. It consists of 234 inpatient beds, 82-day hospital stations, over 20 outpatient clinics, and public waiting areas. The Patient Library, located on the 7th floor of the Clinical Center, serves a unique patient population that often requires extended stays and may have different support needs compared to typical community or academic medical centers. The library aims to provide comprehensive support to patients and their families through various services and resources. Work Details 1) Provide library services to a customer base of patients, patient visitors, and family members of the Clinical Center. Services focus on diversional materials, health-related information, general interest, and current interest. 2) Deliver outstanding customer service with a warm greeting and an inquiry into how librarians can meet customer needs, considering reading comprehension levels. 3) Manage all operations including personnel management, space management, material resources, guest wireless accounts, and ensuring the availability of new releases of books and other library materials. 4) Define hours of service based on customer demand. 5) Perform library services at the Clinical Center.
