Background The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a contractor to provide emergency well network plant operator services at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. This contract aims to ensure the operability and maintenance of an emergency water well network established in response to a previous loss of potable water due to Hurricane Helene. The goal is to maintain a reliable water supply for the facility during emergencies. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for: 1. Operating and maintaining the emergency water well network, which consists of seven wells controlled by a temporary pumphouse. 2. Performing scheduled maintenance to ensure system operability and upkeep, including cataloging maintenance data such as system status, filtration media status, and discharge flow rates. 3. Conducting monthly testing of discharge water during maintenance operations and submitting results for indexing. 4. Assisting in the development of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the operation and maintenance of the system, which will aid facility staff in managing the system effectively. 5. Providing itemized invoices after each visit detailing actions taken, repairs needed, and associated costs. 6. Ensuring compliance with facility requirements including work hours, safety protocols, and personnel identification. Period of Performance The contract period is from December 1, 2025, to November 30, 2026, with four optional one-year extensions available. Place of Performance The services will be performed at the Charles George VA Medical Center located at 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
