Sale of Caldwell County Board of Education Property and Solicitation of Upset Bids

The Caldwell County Board of Education has received an offer to purchase certain real property owned by the board. This offer is contingent upon advertising for upset bids as required by law. The property to be sold includes lands and improvements located at Shadowbrook Drive, Brookwood Place, and Tumbleweed Drive in Lenoir, NC. The proposed purchase price is $125,000.00. The Board is soliciting upset bids, which must be raised by at least 10% of the first $1,000.00 of the current offer plus 5% of the remainder. The minimum upset bid is $131,300.00. All upset bids must be accompanied by a deposit of 5% of the bid amount and delivered sealed to Andy Puhl, Assistant Superintendent for Auxiliary Services, at the Caldwell County Board of Education offices located at 1914 Hickory Blvd., SW, Lenoir, NC. Bids will be opened ten days after the notice is published, and the highest qualifying bid will become the new offer. If multiple bids are received at the highest amount, the first bid received will be considered. The process will continue until no further qualifying bids are received, at which point the property will be sold to the highest bidder unless the Board decides to reject all offers.
