Background The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is seeking to establish a contract for water testing services at the Warm Springs National Fish Hatchery in Oregon. This contract is necessary to comply with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements, which mandate regular monitoring of water quality to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. The goal of this contract is to ensure that the hatchery meets its regulatory obligations while providing safe drinking water for public use. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for conducting monthly water sampling as required by the NPDES permit. This includes: - Monthly collection of samples from three designated sites, with specific tests including: - Two Ammonia tests - Three Total Suspended Solids tests - Three Settleable Solids tests - Two pH tests - Additional sampling in April from a fourth site during fish releases, which will include one of each test type. - Quarterly testing of domestic water for Total Coliform bacteria at up to seven locations on-site. - Annual testing for nitrate, nitrite, and copper in the potable water system. - All samples must be collected by hatchery staff and made available for pickup by the contractor on the second Tuesday of each month.
