Background The 22nd Contracting Squadron at McConnell Air Force Base (AFB), Kansas, is conducting a market research effort to identify FAA certified vendors capable of providing manufacturing and refurbishment services for Wheel Drive Keys. The goal of this effort is to ensure that the necessary plating repair services are available for over 2,000 drive keys currently in use on aircraft and more than 300 keys in stock. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Manufacture and refurbish Wheel Drive Keys, specifically part number 2615338 (320A) from Honeywell. 2. Chemically strip the electroless nickel and tungsten carbide from the rotor drive keys. 3. Perform non-destructive testing on rotor drive keys to identify any cracks. 4. Reapply tungsten carbide to side rails and an electroless nickel coat or alternates as specified in the solicitation. - Tungsten carbide thickness: .002-.004 inches - Electroless nickel thickness: .001-.0012 inches on all surfaces 5. Heat treatment specifications must meet a tensile strength of 220,000-250,000 psi (ref AMS2759/2 and AMS 2750, ASTM E18 46-49.5 HRC). 6. Alternate plating options include a solid H-11 part measuring 0.5”Hx1”Wx12”L with 0.25”Hx0.25”Wx1”L side rails on either side, with a plating thickness of 0.0005 inches for tungsten carbide (siderails only) and electroless nickel (all but the siderails). 7. Compliance with Nickel BAC5728 or MIL-C-26074 specifications for nickel plating and AMS2448C for tungsten carbide application is required. Place of Performance McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas.
