Background The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking to procure General Waste Removal and Recycling Services for the Battle Creek VA Medical Center (BCVAMC). The goal of this contract is to ensure efficient waste management and recycling practices at the facility, which aligns with the VA's mission to provide high-quality care to veterans. Work Details The Contractor shall provide General Waste Removal and Recycling Services at the BCVAMC located at 5500 Armstrong Road, Battle Creek, Michigan. Responsibilities include: - Providing all necessary containers for waste and recycling, ensuring they are maintained in good repair and freshly painted at the start of the contract and each option year. - Ensuring all containers are low profile except for specific dock-style containers. - Picking up all general waste or materials scattered by the Contractor on facility grounds. - Complying with all Federal, State, and County laws regarding waste removal. - Removing debris and fluids from inside and outside containers to prevent vermin breeding. - Conducting collections Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, excluding Federal Holidays. Collections must not occur before 5:00 am. If a collection is missed, it must be performed the following day. - Providing fully enclosed, vermin-proof, leak-proof, and fire-retardant containers. - Handling emergency pickups as needed due to overflow between scheduled pickups under separate purchase orders. - Managing recycling services including an eight-yard single stream recycle container for plastic, metal, and glass collected weekly on Fridays, as well as cardboard and unsoiled paper products collected on Thursdays.
